It all depends on the length and width of your garden, the location of your spigot and your budget. As a general rule of thumb, the 50ft reel is great for small yards and townhomes, the 82ft and 90ft Hi-Flow models will service most standard suburban lots, and the 100ft is best for larger properties. Each garden hose length is backed by the same great quality and functionality and will service your garden as needed.
Hoselink reels are tested for durability (Evolve™ to 10,000+ retractions, Classic to 1,300+), backed by a 5-year warranty on Evolve™ and a 2-year warranty on Classic, and use a no-burst Quick-Connect fitting system with flow control levers built in. The Classic Hose Reel is also Wirecutter's pick, "a great choice for those who want minimal hassle".
Evolve™ Hose Reels use a different mounting bracket design to the Classic series, so you will need to install the bracket specific to the model you have purchased. Each hose reel comes with the correct bracket and hardware included. However, in the event you are changing from a Classic to Evolve™ (or vice versa), rest assured the screw template is identical for both collections and you will be able to replace one bracket with another without needing to drill any additional holes.
Hi-Flow models use a 9/16 inch hose bore versus 1/2 inch on the 100ft models, so water flow in increzsed: 6.55 gal/min on Classic Hi-Flow and 6.94 gal/min on Evolve™ Hi-Flow. If your home already has strong water pressure the difference will be minor, but Hi-Flow maintains stronger output if your existing pressure runs low.
Evolve™ is Hoselink's newest reel, designed and built in Australia and tested to 10,000+ retractions, with a 5-year warranty and a 6.94 gal/min flow rate on the Hi-Flow model. Classic is the original best seller, tested to 1,300+ retractions, with a 6.55 gal/min flow rate on Hi-Flow modles and a 2-year warranty. Both include a wall bracket and rewind automatically.
Yes. Because the hose winds back into the reel automatically after use, it doesn't sit coiled on the lawn or across a path. Mounting the reel near your faucet keeps the hose off walkways between waterings, which is the main reason customers switch from a standard hose to a retractable one.
