Congratulations on your new Hoselink Retractable Hose Reel! You’re about to make watering your garden far easier. To help you get the most out of your new toy, we’ve pulled together our top four tips for using your new Retractable Hose Reel. Whether you're figuring out how to connect your existing accessories or want to keep your hose in top shape, we’ve got you covered.
1. Using your Hose Reel with existing watering accessories
Got a watering accessory or sprinkler you already love? You can keep using it with your Hoselink! While you can directly screw your accessory or sprinkler onto the hose, we recommend using our Quick-Connect Fittings for a better connection. This can either be the Hoselink Male Hose Connector or for even more convenience, the Hoselink Male Hose Connector with Swivel.
- Screw the Accessory Connector’s male end into the accessory (e.g., your sprinkler or spray gun).
- Locate the Hose Connector with Flow Control at the sprayer end of your hose and join it with a simple twist to the connector you’ve screwed into your accessory.
- When you're done, a single twist uncouples the accessory from the hose and leaves the connector attached, ready for next time!

By adding a Hoselink connector, you’re converting your existing sprinkler or watering accessory to be fully compatible with the Hoselink system. This makes it a breeze to swap between different accessories, like spray nozzles, sprinklers, and wand with a simple twist and click.

2. Extending your Leader Hose the right way
Each Retractable Hose Reel comes with a 6.5ft leader hose. That’s the short piece that connects your hose to your faucet. But what if your faucet is farther away?
- You can purchase a leader hose extension in either 6.5ft or 16ft lengths, available in both beige and charcoal to perfectly match your Hose Reel.
- To connect them, screw the brass ends together.
- To attach to the faucet, use the Female Hose Connector and Male Hose Connector provided with your Hoselink Retractable Hose Reel, or screw directly onto the faucet.

3. Retract the right way (and make your hose last longer)
A few quick habits can make retracting your hose easier and extend its lifespan:
- Turn off the faucet first to avoid any undue pressure on the product.
- Release the pressure from the sprayer. This lightens the hose by letting any water in the line drain out as it retracts, making retraction smoother.
- Check for debris on the hose before it goes back in. Clean it off to keep the internal system running smoothly.
Always walk your hose back in. The automatic retraction does the hard work, but keeping it in hand ensures it doesn’t knock anything over on the way back and protects the sprayer from damage as well.

4. Quick tip: clean your hose as it retracts
Is your hose looking a little worse for wear after a muddy day in the garden? Cleaning it is easier than you think:
- Grab a towel or cloth.
- Hold it lightly over the hose as it retracts back into the reel.
This wipes off dirt and debris instantly—and helps keep the internal mechanism working smoothly for longer.
